Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. They devote an average of a decade in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to conventional medical school and actually several podiatry programmes lie within these academic institutions. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

Upon the conclusion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric physicians have gained significant medical training with a focus on concerns regarding the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are studied to treat complications stretching from familiar problems like fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are more perplexing including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have extensive surgical education which give them the expertise needed to perform surgery on those problems that are best remedied through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs go through as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait deviations enables a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics that can deliver pain relief and reduce the chances of countless issues which the feet commonly encounter.
