Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer focus on the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our doctors put in about 10 years in learning, the first four years in undergrad studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in point of fact numerous podiatry programmes are located within these schools. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have gained comprehensive health care training with an emphasis on complications regarding the ankles and feet. They are instructed to manage complications varying from typical afflictions for instance fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are much more perplexing for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have considerable surgical education which give them the skill necessary to perform surgery on those problems that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Comprehending biomechanics and gait abnormalities makes it easy for a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and minimize the risk of countless complications which the feet usually experience.
