They put in approximately ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the next four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and in fact various podiatry training programs are located inside these academic institutions. Upon receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric physicians have obtained wide-ranging healthcare training with a stress on concerns concerning the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are educated to handle complications ranging from simple ailments like fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are far more sophisticated like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have extensive surgical education which provide them the prior experience crucial to execute surgery on those conditions that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors additionally have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet experience as we walk, run or perform other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait problems makes it easy for a Podiatric physician to design footwear and orthotics which can offer pain relief and protect against many conditions which the feet normally encounter.
