Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals at The Foot Institute – Red Deer focus on the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our doctors invest approximately 10 years in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the following four years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to conventional medical school and as a matter of fact numerous podiatry programs are located within these schools. Upon procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have received significant health care education with an emphasis on issues concerning the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are skilled to address difficulties varying from familiar ailments such as fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are far more obscure for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have extensive surgical education which give them the prior experience necessary to perform surgery on those issues that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait peculiarities facilitates a Podiatrist to create footwear and orthotics that can give pain relief and avoid numerous issues which the feet typically encounter.
