Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer provide services for the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists devote approximately 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles regular medical school and in fact numerous podiatry programmes are contained within these schools. After procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have gained substantial medical training with an emphasis on difficulties pertaining to the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are qualified to address problems varying from standard ailments for instance fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are more intricate for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have significant surgical instruction which supply them the experience necessary to perform surgery on those concerns that are best remedied through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait irregularities enables a Foot doctor to develop footwear and orthotics that can provide pain relief and reduce the chances of a large number of problems which the feet typically experience.
