Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists at The Foot Institute – Red Deer focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists put in an average of 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in fact several podiatry training programs are contained within these institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received significant health care training with a main focus on concerns involving the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are instructed to treat difficulties ranging from general afflictions for instance, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are far more challenging like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have significant surgical education which provide them the practical experience essential to execute surgery on those problems that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet withstand as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait deviations makes it easy for a Podiatrist to create shoes and orthotics that can deliver pain relief and reduce the chances of countless problems which the feet typically encounter.
