Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialise in the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists put in approximately a decade in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in point of fact many podiatry training programs are located within these institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have received significant medical education with a focus on problems regarding the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are trained to care for conditions ranging from conventional ailments such as ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are far more challenging including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have considerable surgical instruction which furnish them the experience needed to execute surgical treatment on those conditions that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors likewise have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet go through as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait irregularities allows a Podiatrist to create shoes and orthotics that can bestow pain relief and protect against a large number of complications which the feet frequently encounter.
