Our podiatrists invest about a decade in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to typical medical school and in point of fact quite a number podiatry programs are located within these institutions. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another 1 - 3 years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received extensive health care education with a stress on conditions involving the feet and ankles. They are trained to manage conditions ranging from general ailments such as fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are a lot more obscure such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have significant surgical education which supply them the experience needed to conduct surgery on those troubles that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Recognizing biomechanics and gait abnormalities enables a Foot doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and minimize the risk of numerous conditions which the feet typically encounter.
