Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. Our doctors put in an average of a decade in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to general medical school and many podiatry programmes are located inside these academic institutions. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received significant medical education with an importance on conditions regarding the feet and ankles. They are skilled to treat problems varying from simple disorders such as ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are even more sophisticated for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have thorough surgical instruction which furnish them the experience vital to perform surgery on those complications that are ideally treated through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait abnormalities permits a Podiatric physician to design shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and minimize the risk of many issues which the feet routinely encounter.
