Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Doctors invest around ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to general medical school and as a matter of fact numerous podiatry programs are located within these academic institutions. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another one to three years.

Upon the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received encompassing medical training with a focus on conditions pertaining to the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are studied to address difficulties varying from standard problems such as fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are far more puzzling such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have significant surgical training which provide them the experience needed to conduct surgical treatment on those problems that are best handled through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors furthermore have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait problems allows a Podiatric physician to develop shoes and orthotics that can offer pain relief and minimize the risk of a large number of issues which the feet regularly experience.
