Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialise in the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists spend an average of 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in fact several podiatry programmes lie inside these academic institutions. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another 1 to 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have gained thorough healthcare training with an attention to on conditions pertaining to the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are studied to handle difficulties ranging from simple ailments for example, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are much more perplexing such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have considerable surgical instruction which provide them the experience essential to conduct surgical treatment on those problems that are ideally managed through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors also have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or perform other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait abnormalities empowers a Podiatric physician to create footwear and orthotics which can offer pain relief and help prevent a large number of conditions which the feet regularly experience.
