Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Red Deer provide services for the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. They put in about 10 years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles traditional medical school and in fact many podiatry training programs lie within these schools. Upon attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have obtained thorough medical training with a main focus on concerns pertaining to the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are skilled to manage problems ranging from standard afflictions for example, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are more obscure such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical instruction which supply them the expertise necessary to conduct surgical treatment on those issues that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute additionally have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or perform other activities.
