Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists devote an average of ten years in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to conventional medical school and in fact various podiatry programmes are located inside these institutions. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another 1 - 3 years.

Upon the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric doctors have received extensive medical education with an importance on problems pertaining to the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to handle problems extending from common ailments like fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are more challenging for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have significant surgical instruction which give them the experience essential to conduct surgery on those problems that are ideally handled through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs submit to as we walk, run or perform other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait irregularities makes it easy for a Foot doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and minimize the risk of a large number of issues which the feet commonly encounter.
