Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Red Deer provide services for the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Doctors put in around a decade in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to standard medical school and as a matter of fact several podiatry training programs are located within these academic institutions. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another 1 to 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have gained extensive healthcare instruction with a focus on issues pertaining to the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are instructed to treat difficulties ranging from regular ailments such as ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are much more complex for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have significant surgical training which provide them the skill essential to perform surgery on those problems that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs experience as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Understanding biomechanics and gait deviations enables a Podiatric physician to create shoes and orthotics that can provide pain relief and reduce the chances of numerous conditions which the feet generally encounter.
