They spend approximately ten years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to usual medical school and as a matter of fact a number of podiatry programmes are contained within these institutions. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.
