Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer concentrate on the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our doctors spend an average of a decade in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to general medical school and several podiatry training programs are contained inside these institutions. Upon getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

At the finalization of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have obtained considerable health care training with a main focus on problems concerning the feet and ankles. They are skilled to handle complications stretching from simple problems like fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are a lot more puzzling for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have significant surgical training which supply them the experience crucial to perform surgery on those problems that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet go through as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait irregularities makes it easy for a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics that can bestow pain relief and prevent numerous problems which the feet routinely experience.
