Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer focus on the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. They devote an average of ten years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to typical medical school and in fact quite a number podiatry programs are contained inside these academic institutions. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

Upon the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Doctors have gained substantial health care training with a focus on complications concerning the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are educated to handle concerns ranging from commonplace afflictions like ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are far more obscure for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have considerable surgical education which provide them the expertise essential to perform surgery on those issues that are ideally treated through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs submit to as we walk, run or perform other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait abnormalities facilitates a Foot doctor to create shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and protect against countless complications which the feet generally encounter.
