Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer concentrate on the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our doctors put in an average of 10 years in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to typical medical school and quite a number podiatry programmes are contained within these schools. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 to 3 years.

Upon the conclusion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric physicians have obtained significant medical instruction with an emphasis on complications regarding the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are taught to treat problems ranging from standard afflictions such as fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are far more challenging including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have substantial surgical education which provide them the expertise essential to carry out surgical treatment on those issues that are best handled through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors additionally have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait problems makes it easy for a Foot doctor to create shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and minimize the risk of a large number of problems which the feet usually encounter.
