Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals at The Foot Institute – Red Deer focus on the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists put in around a decade in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to standard medical school and several podiatry training programs lie inside these institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the finalization of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have gained encompassing medical training with an importance on complications concerning the feet and ankles. They are studied to treat issues ranging from conventional afflictions like ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are a lot more obscure like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have thorough surgical instruction which give them the experience necessary to conduct surgical treatment on those complications that are best handled through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet submit to as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Recognizing biomechanics and gait abnormalities enables a Foot doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and prevent many complications which the feet usually experience.
