Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. They put in about a decade in learning, the first four years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles typical medical school and in fact numerous podiatry programmes lie inside these academic institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another 1 - 3 years.

Upon the finalization of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric physicians have obtained extensive healthcare training with an emphasis on conditions pertaining to the feet and ankles. They are trained to treat problems ranging from regular problems for example, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are even more complicated like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have thorough surgical instruction which give them the expertise essential to perform surgery on those issues that are best remedied through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Recognizing biomechanics and gait problems makes it possible for a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and minimize the risk of countless conditions which the feet regularly encounter.
