Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals at The Foot Institute – Red Deer focus on the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our doctors devote about ten years in learning, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to standard medical school and in reality several podiatry training programs are located within these schools. After procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have gained significant medical instruction with an attention to on problems pertaining to the feet and ankles. They are trained to care for problems ranging from commonplace ailments for instance, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are far more intricate for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have substantial surgical training which provide them the experience essential to execute surgery on those problems that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute likewise have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Understanding biomechanics and gait problems empowers a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can give pain relief and protect against many troubles which the feet routinely encounter.
