Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialise in the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our doctors invest an average of 10 years in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to usual medical school and in fact a number of podiatry programmes are located inside these academic institutions. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 to 3 years.

Upon the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have gained wide-ranging medical instruction with a focus on difficulties involving the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are instructed to treat conditions varying from simple conditions such as fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are far more sophisticated for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have significant surgical education which provide them the expertise vital to carry out surgical treatment on those concerns that are ideally remedied through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute also have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait problems enables a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and avoid a large number of conditions which the feet normally encounter.
