Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer provide services for the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. They invest about 10 years in learning, the first four years in undergraduate studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to regular medical school and in point of fact several podiatry programs lie inside these academic institutions. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another one to three years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received substantial medical training with a main focus on conditions involving the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are skilled to treat difficulties varying from usual conditions such as fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are far more sophisticated including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have considerable surgical training which give them the experience necessary to execute surgery on those issues that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have an extensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Realizing biomechanics and gait peculiarities makes it possible for a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics that can provide pain relief and reduce the chances of many complications which the feet normally encounter.
