Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals at The Foot Institute – Red Deer provide services for the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Podiatrists put in approximately 10 years in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and actually a number of podiatry programs are located within these institutions. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have received extensive medical training with a focus on concerns concerning the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are skilled to treat problems ranging from familiar ailments such as fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are more puzzling for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have comprehensive surgical education which provide them the experience required to conduct surgery on those problems that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors additionally have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs withstand as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait abnormalities makes it possible for a Foot doctor to create shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and reduce the chances of many problems which the feet normally experience.
