Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical doctors at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialise in the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists devote an average of a decade in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to general medical school and in fact several podiatry training programs are located within these institutions. Upon achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have gained substantial health care training with a focus on concerns pertaining to the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to handle complications varying from standard afflictions for instance fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are more challenging such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have thorough surgical instruction which provide them the experience vital to perform surgical treatment on those complications that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs receive as we walk, run or perform other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait abnormalities enables a Podiatric physician to design footwear and orthotics that can give pain relief and avoid many troubles which the feet routinely experience.
