Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Red Deer focus on the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our doctors devote about 10 years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles traditional medical school and as a matter of fact numerous podiatry programs lie within these academic institutions. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional one to three years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have gained extensive medical instruction with a concentration on complications involving the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are studied to address problems stretching from simple conditions such as ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are far more sophisticated for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have substantial surgical training which give them the experience needed to perform surgical treatment on those issues that are best managed through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors also have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs receive as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Recognizing biomechanics and gait irregularities empowers a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can bestow pain relief and reduce the chances of numerous troubles which the feet frequently encounter.
