Physicians at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. They put in an average of 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in fact many podiatry programs are located inside these institutions. At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric doctors have obtained encompassing health care education with an importance on complications pertaining to the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are instructed to treat problems ranging from typical conditions for example, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are even more challenging for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have significant surgical instruction which provide them the experience necessary to execute surgical treatment on those conditions that are best managed through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet endure as we walk, run or perform other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait peculiarities makes it easy for a Podiatrist to create shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and help prevent countless troubles which the feet regularly encounter.
