Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the medical and surgical therapy of the foot and ankle. Our doctors spend an average of a decade in education, the first four years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to traditional medical school and in fact quite a number podiatry training programs are contained inside these institutions. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have gained comprehensive medical instruction with an emphasis on problems involving the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to handle concerns stretching from basic ailments like ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are much more intricate for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have thorough surgical instruction which supply them the expertise needed to perform surgical treatment on those conditions that are ideally remedied through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait deviations empowers a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and help prevent a large number of issues which the feet usually experience.
