Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialise in the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists devote approximately a decade in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to typical medical school and in fact various podiatry programmes are contained inside these schools. After attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have received extensive medical education with a focus on difficulties concerning the ankles and feet. They are trained to care for problems ranging from general conditions for instance, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are much more complicated including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have thorough surgical training which provide them the skill needed to perform surgical treatment on those conditions that are ideally handled through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors likewise have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet go through as we walk, run or perform other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait deviations allows a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics that can give pain relief and prevent numerous complications which the feet regularly experience.
