Foot Institute Doctors put in about 10 years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to typical medical school and actually many podiatry programs are contained within these academic institutions. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

Upon the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have obtained encompassing health care training with a stress on issues regarding the feet and ankles. They are educated to address difficulties varying from typical problems for example, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are far more obscure including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have comprehensive surgical education which supply them the skill required to perform surgery on those concerns that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors also have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or perform other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait problems allows a Podiatric physician to create footwear and orthotics that can bestow pain relief and minimize the risk of a large number of complications which the feet commonly encounter.
