Our podiatrists invest approximately 10 years in education, the first four years in undergrad studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to attain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles typical medical school and in fact many podiatry training programs are located inside these institutions. After procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

At the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have gained extensive medical training with a focus on issues involving the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are instructed to care for problems varying from simple afflictions for instance ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are even more perplexing for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have substantial surgical education which provide them the expertise necessary to perform surgery on those problems that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet experience as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Realizing biomechanics and gait abnormalities makes it possible for a Podiatric physician to design footwear and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and help prevent many problems which the feet routinely experience.
