Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Doctors spend approximately 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to typical medical school and in fact several podiatry programmes lie within these academic institutions. Upon securing a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 to 3 years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Doctors have obtained significant health care training with a stress on concerns regarding the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are taught to care for difficulties ranging from normal disorders like ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are a lot more obscure for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have comprehensive surgical education which supply them the prior experience required to carry out surgical treatment on those problems that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute likewise have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or perform other activities. Learning about biomechanics and gait problems allows a Podiatric physician to develop shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and avoid many complications which the feet commonly encounter.
