Physicians at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our doctors spend around ten years in education, the first four years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to usual medical school and in fact several podiatry training programs are located inside these schools. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received comprehensive medical training with an importance on conditions involving the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are skilled to handle difficulties extending from usual ailments like fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are even more challenging such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have comprehensive surgical training which give them the prior experience required to perform surgical treatment on those troubles that are ideally handled through surgical treatment.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs endure as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait irregularities makes it easy for a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can provide pain relief and protect against countless troubles which the feet typically encounter.
