Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialise in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Doctors spend an average of 10 years in learning, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles standard medical school and as a matter of fact many podiatry programmes are contained within these schools. Upon receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have gained substantial medical training with an attention to on issues regarding the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are instructed to deal with problems varying from standard disorders like fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are far more complex such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have considerable surgical education which furnish them the experience essential to execute surgical treatment on those conditions that are ideally handled through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs experience as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait problems makes it easy for a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics that can provide pain relief and help prevent countless troubles which the feet regularly experience.
