Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer focus on the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors put in approximately a decade in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and in reality many podiatry training programs lie inside these academic institutions. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional 1 to 3 years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have gained encompassing medical training with an importance on concerns involving the feet and ankles. They are trained to treat complications ranging from common conditions like fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are much more obscure including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have significant surgical education which give them the experience essential to perform surgical treatment on those problems that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors additionally have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs submit to as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait abnormalities makes it easy for a Foot doctor to design shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and avoid a large number of conditions which the feet usually experience.
