Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Doctors spend approximately a decade in education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and several podiatry programs are located inside these institutions. After getting a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received comprehensive medical training with a concentration on issues regarding the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are taught to treat issues varying from basic problems like fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are a lot more challenging like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have extensive surgical training which furnish them the experience necessary to carry out surgery on those problems that are ideally remedied through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Realizing biomechanics and gait abnormalities makes it possible for a Foot doctor to design shoes and orthotics that can provide pain relief and defend against many problems which the feet generally encounter.
