They spend about 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and in point of fact many podiatry programmes are located inside these academic institutions. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.
