Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists invest about 10 years in education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to get a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and actually quite a number podiatry training programs are located within these academic institutions. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another one to three years.

At the finalization of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have gained wide-ranging health care training with a stress on concerns pertaining to the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are trained to deal with problems stretching from general ailments for example, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are a lot more challenging for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have substantial surgical training which provide them the practical experience required to carry out surgical treatment on those conditions that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have a thorough practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Recognizing biomechanics and gait peculiarities facilitates a Podiatric physician to design footwear and orthotics which can offer pain relief and protect against a large number of issues which the feet regularly experience.
