Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s at The Foot Institute – Red Deer provide services for the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. They invest approximately ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to conventional medical school and as a matter of fact several podiatry programs are located within these academic institutions. After receiving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute perform a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 - 3 years.

Upon the fulfillment of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have obtained thorough healthcare instruction with a focus on problems involving the feet and ankles. They are instructed to care for complications varying from regular disorders for instance fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are more intricate for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have comprehensive surgical training which supply them the prior experience needed to carry out surgical treatment on those troubles that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute likewise have a comprehensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs experience as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Learning about biomechanics and gait irregularities allows a Podiatric physician to create footwear and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and defend against countless troubles which the feet regularly encounter.
