Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Podiatrists at The Foot Institute – Red Deer focus on the surgical and medical therapy of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists spend an average of 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to attain a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to receive a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to typical medical school and in fact several podiatry programmes are contained inside these schools. Upon attaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 - 3 years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have acquired wide-ranging medical training with an emphasis on difficulties involving the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are educated to treat concerns stretching from usual ailments like ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are much more complex like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have comprehensive surgical education which supply them the experience needed to conduct surgical treatment on those problems that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors likewise have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs submit to as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Comprehending biomechanics and gait deviations facilitates a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics that can give pain relief and prevent a large number of troubles which the feet routinely encounter.
