Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. They invest about ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to general medical school and quite a number podiatry programmes are contained inside these academic institutions. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Foot doctors have received substantial health care training with a main focus on conditions regarding the feet and ankles. They are studied to address difficulties ranging from typical afflictions for example, ingrown and fungal toenails, to those which are a lot more challenging such as clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have considerable surgical education which furnish them the experience necessary to execute surgery on those problems that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs withstand as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait abnormalities permits a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics which can provide pain relief and reduce the chances of many complications which the feet typically encounter.
