Doctors at The Foot Institute – Red Deer concentrate on the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. Our doctors devote approximately ten years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to secure a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to general medical school and many podiatry programmes are located inside these institutions. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another one to three years.

Upon the conclusion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have gained wide-ranging medical training with an attention to on conditions pertaining to the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are qualified to care for problems varying from normal disorders for example, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are more puzzling including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have thorough surgical training which provide them the practical experience necessary to perform surgery on those problems that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors additionally have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Understanding biomechanics and gait problems permits a Foot doctor to create footwear and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and help prevent a large number of complications which the feet routinely experience.
