Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Dr.’s here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our podiatrists devote around 10 years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to secure a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to conventional medical school and in fact various podiatry training programs are contained inside these schools. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Physicians at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another 1 - 3 years.

At the conclusion of the internship or post degree residency, our Doctors have acquired thorough healthcare training with a stress on problems involving the ankles and feet. They are studied to address problems ranging from typical disorders for instance ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are much more perplexing for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have considerable surgical training which provide them the experience required to perform surgery on those concerns that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors also have an extensive expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs receive as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Knowing biomechanics and gait peculiarities enables a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and reduce the chances of many issues which the feet generally encounter.
