Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Physicians here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer concentrate on the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our doctors invest around 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergraduate studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the following 4 years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to typical medical school and in point of fact several podiatry training programs are located inside these schools. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Podiatrists at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or residency for an additional one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Doctors have received substantial healthcare education with a main focus on difficulties pertaining to the ankles and feet. Foot Institute Doctors are educated to deal with issues varying from general disorders for instance, ingrown and fungal toe nails, to those which are more intricate for example, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at The Foot Institute have extensive surgical instruction which furnish them the expertise vital to perform surgical treatment on those problems that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Our Doctors furthermore have an extensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs undergo as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Understanding biomechanics and gait abnormalities makes it possible for a Podiatric doctor to develop shoes and orthotics which can offer pain relief and reduce the chances of many issues which the feet generally experience.
