Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Medical professionals here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer provide services for the surgical and medical therapy of the foot and ankle. They put in an average of ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to have a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to usual medical school and many podiatry programmes are located within these institutions. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute carry out a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for an additional 1 - 3 years.

Upon the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatrists have received considerable medical education with a focus on complications regarding the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are educated to treat conditions ranging from familiar conditions for instance, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are far more challenging like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have extensive surgical education which supply them the practical experience required to perform surgical treatment on those conditions that are best treated through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors furthermore have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs endure as we walk, run or carry out other activities. Realizing biomechanics and gait deviations allows a Podiatrist to design footwear and orthotics which can provide pain relief and avoid numerous problems which the feet normally encounter.
