Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialise in the surgical and medical treatment of the ankle and foot. Our podiatrists spend about ten years in education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to achieve a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles standard medical school and in fact quite a number podiatry programmes are contained inside these institutions. Upon obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute complete a hospital "internship" or residency for yet another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatrists have obtained encompassing health care training with a concentration on concerns concerning the feet and ankles. They are trained to deal with concerns ranging from familiar conditions for instance fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are even more obscure for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have extensive surgical education which provide them the experience essential to conduct surgical treatment on those troubles that are best managed through surgical intervention.

Doctors at the Foot Institute likewise have a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Realizing biomechanics and gait abnormalities permits a Podiatrist to develop shoes and orthotics that can deliver pain relief and reduce the chances of countless troubles which the feet normally encounter.
