Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Specialists here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialise in the surgical and medical treatment of the foot and ankle. They put in around a decade in education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School resembles standard medical school and in fact many podiatry training programs are contained within these institutions. After achieving a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the fulfillment of the internship or post degree residency, our Podiatric physicians have acquired encompassing medical training with a concentration on problems pertaining to the feet and ankles. They are taught to treat difficulties ranging from normal disorders for example, fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are far more sophisticated for instance, clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have significant surgical education which furnish them the experience vital to perform surgical treatment on those problems that are best handled through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet undergo as we walk, run or carry out other tasks. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait peculiarities permits a Podiatric physician to design shoes and orthotics that can give pain relief and help prevent countless troubles which the feet typically experience.
