Doctors at The Foot Institute – Red Deer provide services for the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Foot Institute Doctors invest an average of a decade in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to acquire a Bachelors Degree, and the next 4 years in Medical School to obtain a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to usual medical school and in reality various podiatry programmes are located within these academic institutions. Upon procuring a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute undertake a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for another 1 - 3 years.

Upon the fulfillment of the internship or post degree residency, our Doctors have gained significant health care training with a focus on issues concerning the feet and ankles. Our Doctors are trained to manage problems stretching from regular ailments for instance, fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are a lot more complicated for example clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Doctors at the Foot Institute have extensive surgical education which furnish them the expertise crucial to perform surgical treatment on those conditions that are ideally treated through surgical intervention.

Our Doctors furthermore have a comprehensive practical knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the legs and feet receive as we walk, run or perform other tasks. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait irregularities makes it possible for a Podiatrist to design shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and reduce the chances of many troubles which the feet generally encounter.
