Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Doctors here at The Foot Institute – Red Deer provide services for the medical and surgical therapy of the ankle and foot. Foot Institute Podiatrists spend about ten years in higher education, the first four years in undergraduate studies to receive a Bachelors Degree, and the 2nd 4 years in Medical School to get a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School corresponds to traditional medical school and in fact quite a number podiatry training programs are contained inside these institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or post degree residency for yet another one to three years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric physicians have obtained wide-ranging health care training with a stress on problems pertaining to the ankles and feet. Our Doctors are instructed to manage complications extending from basic conditions for instance fungal and ingrown toenails, to those which are much more obscure like clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our Doctors have thorough surgical education which provide them the experience vital to carry out surgery on those issues that are best remedied through surgical intervention.

Foot Institute Doctors also have a thorough expertise and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs go through as we walk, run or perform other activities. Having knowledge of biomechanics and gait abnormalities facilitates a Foot doctor to create shoes and orthotics that can bestow pain relief and avoid many problems which the feet normally experience.
