Red Deer Podiatrist & Foot Clinic

Health professionals at The Foot Institute – Red Deer specialize in the medical and surgical treatment of the foot and ankle. Our doctors spend approximately 10 years in higher education, the first 4 years in undergrad studies to obtain a Bachelors Degree, and the second four years in Medical School to acquire a Podiatric Medical Degree. Podiatric Medical School is similar to regular medical school and in reality several podiatry programmes lie inside these academic institutions. After obtaining a Podiatric Medial Degree, Doctors at the Foot Institute finish a hospital "internship" or residency for another 1 to 3 years.

At the completion of the internship or residency, our Podiatric doctors have received wide-ranging medical instruction with a stress on concerns regarding the feet and ankles. Foot Institute Doctors are taught to treat conditions stretching from commonplace afflictions for instance fungal and ingrown toe nails, to those which are far more complex including clubfoot, bunions, or reconstructive surgery of the foot. Our physicians have extensive surgical training which provide them the expertise required to perform surgical treatment on those problems that are best treated through surgical treatment.

Doctors at the Foot Institute furthermore have a thorough knowledge and understanding of biomechanics, which is the study of the forces which the feet and legs submit to as we walk, run or perform other activities. Comprehending biomechanics and gait irregularities enables a Podiatric doctor to develop shoes and orthotics which can deliver pain relief and defend against many problems which the feet routinely encounter.
